March – Morocco Expedition – Casablanca and the Sahara (Full)
If you haven’t yet touched on the African continent…or ridden a camel…this will be an amazing way to do both! (The camel ride isn’t long. ; ) I am working with a guide in Morocco and we’ve curated a 15-day tour through this spectacular and varied country, a former French colony and previously part of the Roman Empire. We’ll visit many points on this itinerary, from lush mountains and vineyards to vast desert and bustling old-world markets; Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakesh and lesser known but truly stunning areas.
March, November – The magical and memorable SAFARI in Tanzania (send me a message)
April/May – Paris and the Dordogne Valley, France (Full)
We’ll start with the glamour and grandeur of a bustling Paris to see historic sites, monuments, and beautiful boulevards. We’ll enjoy the famous cuisine, cultural experiences and a Seine River-sightseeing cruise. Then we’ll move south to the countryside and take in the canals, castles and Bordeaux-style wines of the Dordogne Valley. We’ll learn more about walnut groves for making oil, explore the charming villages along the Dordogne River and sample wines on a castle terrace.
May – Paris and Normandy, France (Full)
This has been a popular tour – it’s an excellent collection of French history and culture, along with a dive into World War II. We’ll take 13 days to see it all. We will wine, dine and cook our way through Paris and then make our way to the coast of Normandy. We’ll visit Omaha Beach and the American Sector to pay homage to countless brave soldiers who were a key turning point in the war. And we’ll visit the spectacular 1,000-year-old abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel to experience the cultural offerings in this beautiful corner of France.
September — Fall in Tuscany: Medieval towns and the Chianti wine country (Full)
If your image of Italy includes cypress trees, red tile roofs, wine and pasta, this is your trip. We’ll spend half our time in the Chianti countryside at a beautiful villa and half in the quaint walled city of Lucca – where we will take part in a spectacular annual celebration where they line the streets with thousands of luminaries. We’ll visit gems like Siena and Pisa, we’ll join a truffle hunter and his dog in the woods, and learn to make ravioli and seasonal dishes with Chef Stefano.
September — Sicily: Greek ruins, Mt. Etna and Palermo (Full/private)
The bustling capital of Palermo, Mt. Etna, Greek ruins and a confluence of cultures bring you unparalleled food, wine and travel experiences. Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and we will see some fabulous highlights. We’ll stay in beautiful boutique hotels, like a former villa, take boat rides, walk through the Valley of Temples and explore all three sides of Italy’s largest island.
October — The Basque Country of Northern Spain (Full)
Another popular tour – visiting Boise’s sister city and a place of special connection for both Boise and the Basque Country. We’ll explore the history, cuisine and culture of northern Spain. Seafood, boat rides, the area’s fine wines – it will be a cultural immersion in this autonomous region of Spain that we’ve long celebrated in the western U.S.
.October — Sicily’s East Coast and Mt. Etna (Full)
We’ll visit Sicily again to hike around Mt. Etna, explore Greek and Roman ruins and witness the architecture that results from a confluence of cultures. Arabs, Moors, Normans, Greeks – they all left their mark in unparalleled food, wine and travel experiences. Sicily is Italy…but it isn’t and you’ll see, hear, and taste why. We’ll stay in boutique hotels and enjoy boat tours, caves, volcanic wines, and more.
