Here is our tentative list for 2028. It’s a work in progress if you have a request:
March – Argentina Wine Country
We’ll head to the southern hemisphere in early 2028 to explore the rich culture and wines of Argentina! There are some musts, like watching (learning?) Tango and enjoying grilled meats, as well as many hidden treasures that our personal guide Carolina will take us to. A Buenos Aires native, she will escort us to high-elevation wineries in the Andes, high-end wineries in Mendoza and we’ll hop into Uruguay for more history and culture.
March – Antarctica Small-Ship Expedition
Planning ahead for this “seventh continent” experience for travelers who have this on their bucket list. I am partnering with Antarctica21 to join their 96-person small-ship expedition from Argentina to Antarctica on their new (2026) hybrid vessel. We will go onto the island with expert guides and scientists to see amazing polar mammals, seabirds and more.
May — The Basque Country of Northern Spain
This unique tour has been popular among westerners who grew up with Basque festivals and friends. We’ll explore the history, cuisine and culture of northern Spain and the Basque Country. Seafood, boat rides, the area’s fine wines – it will be a cultural immersion in this autonomous region of Spain that we’ve celebrated in the western U.S. for decades.
May – Paris, France and the Dordogne Valley
We’ll start with the glamour and grandeur of a bustling Paris to see historic sites, monuments, and beautiful boulevards. We’ll enjoy the famous cuisine, cultural experiences and a Seine River-sightseeing cruise. Then we’ll move south to the countryside and take in the canals, castles and Bordeaux-style wines of the Dordogne Valley.
September – Turin, Italy and Normandy, France
What a collection of history and culture. Turin boasts not only the famous Shroud, but it’s also the birthplace of the global Slow Food movement, Vermouth and Lavazza coffee. We will wine, dine and cook our way through Piedmont and then take a train through the Alps to Paris. We’ll make our way to the Normandy area to pay homage to countless brave WWII soldiers and to experience the cultural offerings in this beautiful corner of France.
September — Fall in Tuscany: Medieval towns and the Chianti wine country
If your image of Italy includes cypress trees, red tile roofs, wine and pasta, this is your trip. We’ll spend half our time in the Chianti countryside at a beautiful villa and half in the quaint walled city of Lucca – where we will take part in a spectacular annual celebration. We’ll visit gems like Siena and the Cinque Terre on the Ligurian Sea, we’ll join a truffle hunter and his dog in the woods, and learn to make ravioli and seasonal dishes with Chef Stefano.
October — The Basque Country of Northern Spain
We will repeat this amazing itinerary and immerse ourselves in the charm and beauty of northern Spain and the Basque Country. We’ll explore the history, cuisine and culture through boat rides, food tours and winery visits. It will be a cultural immersion in this autonomous region of Spain that we’ve celebrated in the western U.S. for decades.
