Holidays and festivals

Every village in Italy has a patron saint, and they celebrate that saint in a big way at least once year.

Add the big holidays, like Christmas, Lent, and Easter, and there is something spectacular happening every month.

I have custom tours arranged to watch the Palio horse race in Siena in August (celebrating the Assumption of the Virgin Mary) and Carnevale, or Mardi Gras, in Viareggio in March (kicking off the Lenten season). Join us for those, or let me know what interests you, and we’ll plan another one!

Members of the “Owl” contrada, or neighborhood, parade through Siena,
preparing for the Palio.
